Sunday night a long time ago (yes, I am that old), we would have an early dinner and then all the family would sit around the black and white TV with our eyes glued to the screen, our hearts pounding waiting for the song to start, and then we would hear those famous words, "When you wish upon a star" wow the magic would begin, Disneyland was on the teli.
and I never realized how much until this past year when I crossed something off my bucket list, I got to visit Disneyland, not just any Disneyland, I am talking about the original in Anaheim.
Wow, my heart was pounding just like I was 5 years old as I walked through those awesome gates, just like I had imagined and this magical place did not disappoint. And don't let me start on my moments with Tinker Bell and Mickey Mouse, just sensational.
Yes, that's Disneyland, yes, it's expensive, yes the lines are long, yes they attempt to sell you as much as you can carry out of the place with a lorry, but no matter how much you beat that credit card to death? You will be smiling the whole time.
Is yours?
Now, at this stage you're saying, "Hello" OK for them they have zillions of dollars, mega numbers of staff, of course they can offer that "Disney" level of service. But, when you think about 99% of the time, you're only ever dealing with one person at Disneyland and your business is the same, it's just you and the customer. So, why can't you offer the same level as Tinker Bell and Mickey Mouse?
You maybe wonder what is the driver behind the Disney level of service? When Walt Disney was opening Disneyland, he wanted to describe what he wanted people to feel when they were an accessory to great customer service
, what did he want them to feel? "People can feel perfection" was his answer, and that is what drives Disney.
Do you have a plan in place? A standard? Do you treat a question like it's a sale, a complaint like it's an opportunity to shine?
A total customer service program
is a must for any business. You want your customers to walk away, to end a phone call, to comment on Facebook with the words that were the ending of the Disney theme song.
