I do love Netflix, in fact, I could say I am totally addicted. They create these Incredible series on some of my favorite subjects - cooking, sports history, powerful and important people of history, love them all so much but my favorite? Crime investigation stories. Wow, I tell you, once I get started on episode one, the day can quickly be swallowed up with, “I have time, let’s watch one more”.
Yep, I love them. I love how they show all the background, the investigation, all the drama. They go deep into the science of DNA, police interviews, it’s so exciting and of late the best one? Has been about wrongful convictions. Convictions where the science of DNA has been pushed way beyond its limits.
You see my fellow Sherlocks, DNA in its purest form? Sorry, do not pass go, do not collect $200, you're going to jail no matter what you say. Good old blood, saliva, hair, even the little bits of skin, we leave a trail of in everyday life. Well folks, to those DNA science kids, it’s like Hansel and Gretel, those DNA breadcrumbs will lead them all the way to, “Guilty, Your Honour”.
BUT, as I said, this series was all about those that have been “wrongfully” convicted by DNA science. I’m talking about times there is no body, no weapon, the person has alibi’s like they were sitting in a confession box at the time with the local priest, or having dinner with their grandmother, but hello, sorry, somebody believes, “they really did it” and they will do anything to make it stick.
This is where DNA, goes way too far. Science never sits still, and now? They can take a little piece of DNA and copy it, and copy it, and copy it and sooner or later they can put Mr. or Mrs. Innocent “Possibly” at the scene of a crime, “statistically”.
And those scientific guys and gals are super salespeople and like Anthony Robbins in full flight at a seminar? They can give a jury a presentation that when they are done, those 12 people will be thinking and believing they can walk on fire, and Mr. Innocent? Hello, the priest lied and, heaven forbid, so does the grandmother!
Next thing you're most likely saying is “Good story, I will watch Netflix, but hello, why am I bringing this diluted many, many times to make sure your guilty DNA into this blog?” Well, I am glad you asked that LOL.
This Netflix series reminded me a lot of customer complaints, bad reviews, etc.
