“Money never sleeps.” A famous quote from the great movie, Wall Street. Michael Douglas on a beach talking to Charlie Sheen on one of those old state-of-the art back in the day brick phones. Wow, they were awesome, you were seriously rich if you had one of them. But today’s little blog is not about the awesome Motorola brick, it’s about money not sleeping. However, I think some of us let it have a little nap.
Now more than ever, money doesn’t sleep. It’s like the world has gone into overdrive in its “I want it NOW” attitude, we want instant noodles, instant success, instant love and we won’t wait for it, heck, you even get a free pizza if they are late.
We want our messages returned instantly, we want the Internet super-fast, we want instant approaches for loans, we want things in stock at stores, we want people to like a post on Facebook as soon as we click enter, we even watch it until somebody does and comparing if they are taking too long.
Yes folks, back in the day, Michael Douglas was so right, and now? It’s like a philosophy of life and a guide to business success.
But? As I said, some of us in tech land sometimes let the money have a snooze.
We have our customers lining up to get websites fast, they want service with a smile but delivered at warp factor six, and what do I notice?
So many questions asking for help, questions looking for free this or free that, questions on Facebook in Forums, questions that don’t always get answers, questions that can slow the process down whilst we wait to find the answers.
Well, if you can pay for something and get it straight away, no need to slow the process and be well on to your way of getting paid faster. Well, maybe it’s not such a good thing.
If you spend hours and hours looking for a “FREE” image, maybe it’s not such a good thing. Yes, I totally understand we get all excited when we don’t have to pay, but in reality, is it false economics?
I made the choice a long time ago to stop searching always for free stuff. I spent money on software licenses, I have email accounts I pay for, I have an account with shutter stock. I send my team on training courses I pay for rather than free webinars.
Why? Because I get things done faster. It’s more reliable, more effective, and my money? Never gets to sleep.
So break away from the revenue slumber. Think about using some experts, get reliable tools, enjoy life more. Maybe you can spend more time on the beach, but without the Motorola Brick.
Big hugs and have a great day!
